One Mile

This daft and fast-paced contemporary vaudeville piece of theatre features Ruxy and Andrew Simpson as two stoopids trying to tell a joke. However, in so doing they get confused with their own words and the meaning they are trying to communicate. They get caught in absurd loops of language and logic, confusing themselves and everyone around.

Inspiration for this piece came from Abbot and Costello’s “Who’s on First?” routine, Morecambe and Wise, Laurel and Hardy and Ted Chippington.

“One Mile” is a 6 minute long new vaudeville piece that has played at the Mischief La Bas 30 Anniversarry Cabaret in 2022, the manipulate Festival Cabaret in 2022, and the Single End 2019 cabaret.

Ruxy and Andrew are currently working on developing One Mile into a longer piece of contemporary vaudeville by focusing on comedic “bit“ writing. With support from Creative Scotland and mentored by Alan McKendrick.
